The Launch of Empowr with the 1st Session: Skate Jam

On 4th February 2022, Empowr CIC held its very first session: a Skate Jam in Southeast London.

The idea was born from a simple observation. Our founder noticed that Southeast London had very few indoor spaces where people could roller skate. There was a gap — not just in facilities, but in community. Skating has a way of bringing people together, and that energy was exactly the kind of vehicle Empowr was built around.

The Skate Jam was the first proof of concept. A free, open, community event. The beginning of something that has since grown into a structured wellbeing organisation delivering programmes across multiple disciplines.
