Our Jubilee Family Funday

On 4th June 2022, Empowr CIC partnered with The Somerville TRA and Barnes Wallis Community Centre to host a free Jubilee Family Funday for the local community. The event was made possible by funding from the Lewisham Tenants Fund — and the whole thing came together in under two weeks.

The Day

True to our mission, every activity on the day was chosen with experiential learning in mind. We wanted to give the community meaningful, hands-on experiences, not just entertainment.

Activities included:

• Jumbo Games
• Skipping
• Hula Hoops
• Rubik's Cubes
• Bouncy Castle
• Taekwondo Demonstration
• Zumba
• RC Rock Crawling
• Face Painting

The Numbers

• 400+ community members attended
• 11 collaborators and companies contributed to the day
• 100% of surveyed attendees said it was the best family fun day in the area in years — and every single one expressed interest in future events
